Iconic buildings and landmarks from India to Australia to America will stand in darkness. People across the world from all walks of life will turn off their lights and join together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common – our planet".

    this has been going on for more than a cpl of yrs.... but why do this only once a year????

  4. Not really aware of the exact thought behind making it an annual event. But what is apparent is that, this is just a reminder to global citizens that power is something to be used wisely and has significant monetary and environmental costs. This is especially true of Developed World Countries and generator/inverter owning well to do entities. Otherwise we Indians have official and unofficial powercuts do the "ENLIGHTENMENT" for us.
